Our specialties
Anxiety Disorders
Anxiety disorders are a group of psychiatric conditions including generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety/social phobia, separation anxiety, and specific phobias. Symptoms of anxiety include excessive worry, inability to control worry, fatigue, trouble concentrating, irritability/short temper, muscle tension, and issues with sleep.
Diagnosing and Treating Anxiety Disorders
Anxiety disorders are diagnosed through a thorough clinical evaluation. In some cases, other untreated psychiatric conditions are causing anxiety and should be ruled out to ensure an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plan.
Behavioral therapy and counseling such as cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, and exposure therapy are shown to be effective as a part of the treatment plan for anxiety disorders. Our practice works extensively with anxiety clinics and treatment centers across the state of Colorado to ensure effective and evidence based treatment for our patients with anxiety.
In some cases, medication is needed if the anxiety is so severe that it is causing significant issues with daily activities or it is preventing therapy from being effective. The best medication for anxiety disorders depends on the patient. Our practice works with each patient to cater the treatment plan and medication choice to the individual.
